Christmas Memorial Carol Service returns to Colchester Crematorium Chapel

PUBLISHED: 15 November 2022

Following a two-year interval due to the pandemic, the ever-popular Memorial Carol Service returns to Colchester Crematorium Chapel on Thursday, 8 December 2022, at 2.00pm.

Everyone is welcome to attend this informal and friendly service of carols and readings, which will be led by celebrant Jim Maltby. The service will also feature solo performances by singer Graham Long, with musician and composer Stephen Evans playing the organ. Afterwards, there will be refreshments kindly supplied by the Star Light Tea Room.

Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services & Waste, said: “Our Christmas Memorial Carol Service is always a warm and uplifting occasion and a great source of comfort and pleasure to all who attend. We look forward to getting the festive season off to a perfect Yuletide start, and to once again welcome local people, their families and their friends to come together in the chapel to remember their loved ones this Christmas.

“Everybody will be very welcome, including accompanied children and well-behaved dogs on leads. So, pop on your festive jumper, snowflake earrings or reindeer scarf and join us for a cosy and Christmassy afternoon.”

The Crematorium Chapel, which opened in 1957, is located within the Garden of Remembrance, at Colchester Cemetery, Mersea Road, Colchester CO2 8RU.

Visitors are advised to use the gate entrance close to the mini-roundabout junction with Abbott’s Road and to park in the Crematorium car park.
