Colchester’s Town Hall Christmas Gift Market is back for its second year and promises to be bigger and better than ever, with up to 50 stallholders, entertainment from performing ‘elves’ and free mince pies!
The free, two-day event on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November offers visitors a unique opportunity to buy exclusive and inspiring gifts and treats for their friends and family. Organised by Colchester Events, it brings together artists, craftspeople, growers, makers and producers from across the local area to showcase and sell their festive products across three Town Hall venues – the Mayoral Suite, The Moot Hall and The Old Library.
Cllr Adam Fox, Deputy Leader of the Council said: “The Town Hall Christmas Gift Market goes from strength to strength and it’s great to see so many local stallholders returning for a second year alongside new producers and craftspeople. With added entertainment, and the outdoor street food market joining forces, it offers residents yet another exciting Christmas event to enjoy. Last year, we welcomed over 4,000 visitors over the weekend, and we look forward to welcoming even more this year.”
A huge selection of locally sourced and made goods will be on offer from Christmas decorations and hampers to pet products, jewellery, skincare, textiles, pottery and candles. Visitors can also enjoy free entertainment, including performing aerial elves, and a festive bar serving mulled wine, hot chocolates and other seasonal refreshments.
This year’s event coincides with the Colchester High Street ‘Street Food Market’ where regular street food vendors Peck, Mex Appeal, Gourmet Yorkshire Wraps, Manna Grill and Kezmet will be joined by Ravenous Fudge, Twisted Treats and an array of stalls selling festive favourites - from hot chestnuts to mulled wine.
Holly Stant of Hollyhocks Handmade, a stallholder returning to this year’s event, said: “The Town Hall Christmas Gift Market was a great success last year! It’s a perfect time to meet new customers, spread some festive joy and I can’t wait to be back this year!”
The Christmas Gift Market takes place at the Town Hall, High Street, CO1 1PJ on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November 2022 from 10am – 5pm each day. Entry is free – more details at Christmas Market - Colchester Events
