Ideas are being sought by Colchester Borough Council for management of a new community facility for Stanway through a public Expressions of Interest process, which is now open.
The Stanway community facility is currently in the development stages and will be situated at the edge of a forthcoming country park, creating a new green space for residents. The community facility building will be a flexible hall space, suitable for hire by community groups. Parking will also be available at the site. It is anticipated that construction will start in March 2020, with a completion date of February 2021.
The council would like to hear from community or social enterprise organisations, charities or management groups who are interested in taking over management of this new facility, providing a sustainable future and ongoing benefit to the community.
Councillor Michael Lilley, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Communities, Wellbeing and Public Safety, said: “This is an exciting opportunity and we’re looking for proposals for this wonderful new facility that will benefit the local community. I look forward to seeing the interesting ideas that come forward and how they will help us to create a Better Colchester.”
