For families the annual tradition of visiting Santa Claus at Christmas is the highlight of the festive season and with the special day now only weeks away, time is running out to book that magical visit.

This year consider a visit to Colchester Castle’s magical grotto. The Castle’s Lucas vaults will once again be transformed into that perfect home away from home for Santa Claus. Don’t worry he won’t be alone he will have the help of his magical elves who are ready to make the children’s Christmas extra special.

Santa Claus will be in his enchanted winter forest home on selected dates in December (7, 8, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23) up to the 23 December (as Christmas Eve he will of course be busy!) For £7.95 visitors will meet Santa Claus and receive a festive gift. Afterwards they will have the opportunity to whisper their secret festive wishes into a local Colchester oyster shell and place it on Santa’s Christmas tree. What could be more magical?

Councillor Julie Young, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Performance and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “Experiencing Christmas at the Castle is wonderful. The Castle is dressed for the season with community Christmas trees and feels so festive.

“Make sure you take advantage of the Castle’s special offer of 10% off Castle entry when buying your grotto tickets, and this also includes Resident Pass purchases! With so many great family events planned for 2020, now is the perfect time to pick up a membership pass.”

Please note that numbers are limited for this event and spaces sell out quickly. Please call 01206 282939, to secure your space.
