Step into a magical land of Dragons at Colchester Castle!

PUBLISHED: 23 May 2022

Taking place on the 31 May and 1 June

Part the mists of time and head to Colchester Castle’s fabulous Discovery of Dragons Day. Visitors will come face to face with not one, but four spellbinding dragons who will be waiting to greet Castle guests.

Meet the red Epico, elegant green Braccus, Ildrie the sleepy one of the family, and cute baby Nuri, everyone’s favourite! With colourful scaly legs, plumes of smoke and friendly eyes, there is no need to fear the Castle’s new friends.

During the day, at regular intervals*, Epico and Braccus will be performing in their very own Land of Adventure show, which will be packed full of family fun. Please note: the dragon adventures will take place outside the Castle, so please come dressed for the British weather!

Throughout the day visitors will also be able to take part in additional interactive activities that include making your very own Coronation Crown, a majestic Kings and Queens quest around the Castle, and of course all the Castle’s treasures and displays – all in honour of the Queens Platinum Jubilee.

Ensure you bring your pocket money, as there will be plenty of treats in our pop-up Dragon shop to remind you of your special day.

There is no need to book, simply turn up on the day. This experience costs £5 per person after Castle admission.

Pam Donnelly, Chief Executive of Colchester Borough Council, said: “Dragons and Castle’s – what more could you ask for? This promises to be a truly magical day out for the whole family. Head down, have some fun, and discover the Castle’s many treasures at the same time.”
