Vineyard Street lift to undergo refurbishment

Date issued: 18 March 2019

The lift at Vineyard Street is to undergo a two-week refurbishment from Friday 29 March and during this time will not be available for public use.

The revamp will include refurbishing and painting all the interior and exterior panelling, before vinyl graphics depicting some of Colchester’s best loved heritage sites will be installed to cover all the glass panes.

Due to the need for scaffolding and full access to the lift for the refurbishment, it will not be available for public use during the two-week project. Customers who use the lift are advised to plan ahead and seek alternative arrangements during the closure.

Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Waste, Environment & Transportation, said: “This lift is in real need of some attention and I am glad that we can make this happen as part of our Better Colchester campaign.

“The new vinyl graphics which will be installed will really highlight and celebrate Colchester’s rich history and improve the aesthetics of this area of the town.”

The total cost of works will be £6,904.02
