The school summer holidays are almost upon us and Colchester Museums are getting ready to greet plenty of families this summer!
With Colchester Castle’s brand-new exhibition, Adorn: Jewellery, The Human Story, opening on the 27 July, Colchester’s three museums; Colchester Castle, Hollytrees Museum and the Natural History Museum will all be running a programme of fun and engaging Adorn inspired events.
Join the Castle for an Adorn children’s launch party with style on the 2 August. Razzle Dazzle in your finest dress up and play party games. Grab one of our Adorn explorer backpacks and head off around the exhibition taking part in fun challenges as you go. £5 per child after Castle admission.
Here’s a taster of what’s on offer at Hollytrees Museum: Adorn Treasure Chests, amulet-making; recycled jewellery; keyrings and charms; adorn your own T-shirt, and regal crown-making!
Over at the Natural History Museum, the Go Live animal events will be back due to popular demand.
Colchester Castle will be hosting several story-telling sessions that have used the new Adorn exhibition as their inspiration. Get lost in stories of characters from history and discover the secrets of treasure and adventure! Come dressed up and get into character!
Colchester Castle events and the Adorn exhibition are free after Castle admission, so if you haven’t visited recently it’s the perfect excuse!
Remember: if you live in the Borough, pick up your Castle Resident Pass and enjoy the new exhibition and Castle events running throughout the summer holidays for free.
