Colchester’s looking better

Thanks to a maintenance programme to improve Colchester’s street furniture

Date issued: 1 July 2019

Thanks to extra staff funded by the Better Colchester campaign, improvements are ongoing to make Colchester look even better.

Staff from the Neighbourhood Services team have been working on a maintenance programme to improve Colchester’s street furniture. Since February, the team have worked on several projects including refurbishing and upgrading bins, benches, bollards and railings. This programme of work is ongoing.

Project work has also included the recent repainting and vinyl-wrapping of the Vineyard Street lift, the installation of Gumdrop bins around town and the refurbishment of the War Memorial near the Albert roundabout on North Station road.

Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Waste, Environment and Transportation said: “Our Better Colchester project work is doing so many things to make Colchester shine. This ongoing programme of improving street furniture is making a real difference and I hope our residents and visitors can see how proud we are of our town and how hard we are working to make it the best it can be.”
