Arts & Crafts is the theme for the town’s market this weekend on Saturday 21st July. The High Street will be lined with around forty stalls showcasing arts and craft products from jewellery to gin!
Local artist John Harrison from Birch Gallery will be in action, painting and selling local scenes from his stand throughout the day. New craft businesses are getting involved too, such as The Lavender Hut run by florist Sharon Grimwood, who will be taking a market stall for the first time, offering silk flower arrangements and samples of silk flower bridal bouquets.
There’s fun for youngsters too at the free card craft stalls where children and their families can make and take home their colourful designs.
Street food stalls will offer an exciting array of street food to tempt every taste and budget with Thai, Filipino, Bangladeshi and Greek food on offer, as well as traditional Yorkshire Puds!
Music lovers will be entertained throughout the day which features an array of musicians tuning up to entertain the crowds.
Cllr Martin Goss, Colchester Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Waste, Sustainability and Infrastructure, said: “Our first Arts & Crafts Fair looks set to be a lively and enjoyable event for everyone and is a great opportunity to celebrate the town’s creative industries,
“As well as becoming increasingly popular with visitors, our themed market days are attracting more and more traders, especially those looking to use the market as a launch pad for their business.”
The event takes place in Colchester High Street on Saturday 21st July from 9am to 4pm. www.facebook.com/ColchMarket
