The shortlist for this year's inaugural Visitor Experience Awards have been announced and Colchester Museums Visitor Services Team have made the final in the Visitor Experience Team of the Year category.
This award recognises teams that have consistently delivered excellent service to their visitors, worked together as a cohesive team and done everything they can to enhance visitor experiences and exceed expectations.
Colchester Museums Visitor Services team welcomes visitors to Colchester Castle, Hollytrees Museum and the Natural History Museum, which in 2017/18 totalled over 170,000 people.
The work the team does ranges from delivering tours to school groups, overseeing conferences and weddings, all whilst ensuring every visit exceeds expectations. In addition part of their role is to oversee the security of the historic buildings and collections housed in them to ensure they are protected for future generations to come.
Cllr Tim Young, Portfolio Holder for Business and Culture and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “It’s a real honour for the team to be shortlisted for this award. The team has so much passion, drive and ambition, and it is fantastic to see this recognised in this way.
“Whether a visitor attends Colchester Castle, Hollytrees Museum or the Natural History Museum, the friendly and informative team are there to help guide and make that visitor experience first class.”
The Visitor Experience Awards are new to 2018 and hosted by The Visitor Experience Forum. The Visitor Experience Forum facilitate networking events for those involved in the creation of visitor, guest or customer experience and are quickly establishing themselves as a prestigious group for those working in the visitor experience industry.
The winners will be announced at a glittering evening reception at Wellcome Collection in London, on the 8 August, and promises to be a great evening celebrating visitor experience talent country wide.
