Lower Castle Park toilets to reopen following public feedback

PUBLISHED: 11 February 2025

The public toilets in Lower Castle Park will reopen on Monday, 31 March, following a review of budget priorities and public feedback. The toilets were originally closed due to persistent vandalism and the high costs associated with their maintenance. However, funding has now been identified to allow them to reopen without creating additional budget pressures.

Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Waste, Neighbourhoods and Leisure said: “We have always been committed to balancing the council’s financial pressures while maintaining key facilities for residents. After listening to public feedback, I worked to identify alternative savings so that we can reopen these toilets without affecting other essential services. I’m pleased we can now make this happen in time for the busy spring and summer months.”

To help keep the facilities open and in good condition, the council is urging visitors to respect the toilets and report any vandalism or suspicious activity to a member of staff.
