Grab a sleeping bag and experience Colchester Castle as you never have before. Knightzzz at the Museum returns, on Friday 5 April, for those brave enough to spend the night at Europe’s largest Norman Keep.

Colchester Castle is a must-see for any lover of history. The Castle, one of England’s most important heritage sites, was built for William the Conqueror on the foundations of the Roman Temple of Claudius. The Castle’s walls have undoubtedly seen some hair-raising sights, including Matthew Hopkins, the Witchfinder General, interrogating women in the Castle in 1645. But are you brave enough to spend the night there?!

The event is completely family-friendly, and groups are encouraged. With the choice of the Chapel, Scriptorium or the main floor of the Castle, everyone will have their own designated sleeping space.

Throw in a tour of the Castle, lots of family friendly activities and a late-night hot chocolate plus breakfast in the morning, and it promises to be a great Knight for the whole family!

Cllr Tim Young, Portfolio Holder for Business and Culture and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “Knightzzz at the Museum is growing in popularity with each event we run, and I can see why. Staying overnight in such an important heritage site is a rather special opportunity. Those who sleepover will understand so much more about our town’s rich history and gain an experience to remember for a lifetime.

“Colchester Castle uses events such as these to help preserve the town’s rich heritage for generations to come and make a Better Colchester, so please, if you fancy a fun-packed unusual Friday night, book a space and come and join the team!”

Tickets start at £30 per person or £25 per person for groups of four or more.

Private spaces for up to six people can be booked for £300.

Booking is essential. Please call 01206 282 941.
