The Street Tag app is offering teams, workplaces and organisations the opportunity to get more active and work together to compete to win prizes.
Street Tag, which promotes physical activity in a fun accessible way, launches a new teams leader board on Monday 10 January 2022 – perfectly timed for a fresh New Year challenge.
The free app is easy to use, with participants recording the distance walked, ran or cycled, by collecting virtual tags with their smartphone. The accumulative distance tallies to a leader board, with the champions in with the chance of winning some great prizes.
The new team leader board will allow businesses or organisations to have up to 250 participants in a team. It is an eight week trial programme, which will run initially until 7 March 2022.
Councillor Beverley Oxford, Portfolio Holder for Communities, said: “Since its launch, the Street Tag app has inspired hundreds of people to get more physically active and connect with the green spaces around them.
“The new teams leader board will generate healthy competition between local businesses and organisations to claim the prizes. I would encourage anyone to download the free app and give this new challenge a go.”
The app has been brought to Colchester by a partnership between Colchester Borough Council and the Essex Local Delivery Pilot (LDP).
The leader boardsengage and incentivise families, individuals and schools to walk or cycle around the borough, discovering their local areas, parks, and green spaces. Getting outdoors and being more active has been proven to make an enormous impact on people’s physical and mental wellbeing. Incentivising getting more people outside and moving, works towards the Council’s strategic aim to create safe, healthy and active communities.
Street Tag is conducting a dedicated virtual drop-in session for Colchester Workplaces and community groups on 7 January 2022 at 12.30pm to answer any questions with a live demo of the app and help with any questions that they might have. Join via this link.
