Colchester businesses urged to share information with the council ahead of future Support Grant funding

Colchester Borough Council is urging all businesses to apply for a business support grant as soon as possible, even if they are not currently eligible, ahead of additional grant funding.

The application form, which is available at colchester.gov.uk/coronavirus/businesses/business-support-grants, only needs to be completed by businesses once and the council will contact them if they’re eligible for grants at a later stage.

Councillor David King, Portfolio Holder for Business and Resources, said: “We want to help businesses to understand the support grants announced by the Government and Essex County Council. Having one form, which will automatically determine which grant, if any, a business is eligible for, will simplify the process during an already stressful period.

“Even if a business is not currently eligible for a grant, they should complete the form soon, providing as much information as possible. We will notify you in the future if you become eligible for support, and we will be able to get vital aid to you as soon as possible.

“More funding will become available for businesses and Colchester will work to distribute it as widely as possible.

“Please complete the application form, get added to our system, and be patient. Aid is coming.”

There are a range of other Government financial support measures available for businesses impacted by COVID-19, which can be found on the www.gov.uk/coronavirus/business-support website.
