Christmas is a magical time and Colchester Castle will be looking particularly festive over the Christmas period with the help of local school children and community groups.
Twelve groups have worked hard designing and making decorations to adorn mighty six-foot Christmas trees that are on display in the Castle. With all the trees taking on a different theme, they make a spectacular festive feast for the eyes and are not to be missed!
Whilst at the Castle you are urged to book Santa’s grotto, which is in the Castle’s stunning Lucas vaults, or simply to grab some last-minute Christmas shopping in the fully stocked gift shop. And with £5 off every £25 spent in the Castle shop, ease the stress of finding that special gift! T&C’s apply.
Across the road, at The Natural History Museum, you can also take advantage of a special offer in the gift shop with a free children’s lucky dip with a spend of over £5. Perfect for little people’s stocking fillers. T&C’s apply.
Hollytrees Museum is the perfect place to escape to this Christmas. Step back in time, let the children dress up, marvel at the stunning Dolls house depicting what life would have been like in Hollytrees and immerse yourself in Victorian and Georgian Colchester.
Cllr Tim Young, Portfolio Holder for Business and Culture and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “If you’re planning a visit to Colchester Museums over the Christmas period, please make sure you check the opening times before you visit, as we’d hate to disappoint anyone.
“Christmas is a magical time, so discover the fascinating heritage the town has to offer with a visit to one of our Museums. We look forward to welcoming you!”
