This autumn, Visit Colchester aims to showcase the whole Borough of Colchester from coast to countryside with its new marketing campaign, The Beautiful Borough.
Colchester is so much more than the historic town centre well known to many already. The Borough comprises of 135 square miles of diverse countryside and towns and villages with unique identities and much to offer visitors planning an extended break.
We invite everyone to discover attractive coastlines and riverside locations, picturesque architecture and quintessentially English rural landscapes immortalized by famous artists.
Follow Visit Colchester’s social media channels to discover what hidden gems lie within the Borough of Colchester – the only trouble will be choosing which to visit first!
Join in and share your images using the hashtag #BeautifulBorough.
At the heart of the campaign will be some new imagery to promote the Borough. Based on the now iconic 1930’s railway posters, Visit Colchester has taken these as inspiration and created a modern suite of images that represent all the corners of the Borough. Look out for them at stations across the Borough.
Why not download your favourite image as a wallpaper for your phone, PC or tablet and start planning where to explore first.
Cllr Tim Young, Portfolio Holder for Business and Culture and Deputy Leader of Colchester Borough Council said: “The Borough of Colchester is home to a wealth of tourist attractions including some big names like Colchester Zoo and Colchester Castle. However, this autumn, we want tourists and residents alike to explore every corner of our Beautiful Borough and discover the unique communities and hidden treasures to be found within its borders.
“Head to Tiptree for a cream tea at Wilkin & Sons, ride the steam trains at the East Anglian Railway Museum or simply follow in Constable’s footsteps by taking a bracing walk in the English countryside. This autumn, we invite you to explore The Beautiful Borough of Colchester.”
