Community Day of Action for St John’s and St Anne’s

PUBLISHED: 4 August 2022

A Community Day of Action is coming to St John’s and St Anne’s ward!

The event on Wednesday, 10 August 2022, led by Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services & Waste, is the first in a series of Community Actions Days to be held across the borough each month.

The St John’s and St Anne’s Community Day of Action aims to make improvements to the local area through litter picking and repainting street signs – and residents are invited to get involved and make a difference!

The event will focus on the following areas:

  • Litter Picking on Wilson Marriage Road, Barkstead Road, Barnardiston Road, and The Causeway. There will also be a litter pick in the vicinity of St Christopher’s Road shops

  • Repainting damaged street signs in Norfolk Crescent, Ripple Way, St Columb Court, St Cyrus Rd, Wilmington Rd, and Tylehurst Crescent.

Cllr Goss said: “This Community Day of Action is a fantastic opportunity for local people to feel empowered to tackle issues that matter to them and deliver noticeable improvements to their neighbourhood where they're needed most.

“I would urge groups and volunteers to get involved and help make a real difference to their community.”

The Community Day of Action takes place between 10am and 2pm, and everyone is welcome to participate at any of the locations mentioned above. Alternatively, please meet at The Oak Tree Centre, Harwich Road, at 10am, where refreshments will be available. Litter picking kits will also be provided.

Colchester Borough Council’s Neighbourhood Service officers will be on hand to support the event and offer advice to residents on making lasting improvements to their local area.
