For 2020-21, all Colchester Borough Councillors are allotted a Locality Budget of £2000 each.

Ward Councillors can use their budget to initiate or support their local communities, helping with a wide variety of projects, from facility repairs to community wellbeing initiatives. This year the money is available early, to provide local councillors with a means to help their communities with COVID-19 related challenges.

Councillors welcome contact from community groups; if you have a project that would benefit from funding support, please find contact details of your local Ward Councillors here

Councillor Mike Lilley, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Communities, Wellbeing and Public Safety, said: “We have opened the locality budgets early this year, as we want all councillors to be able to support the amazing work local community leaders are doing during the coronavirus outbreak, and having access to a bit of funding is really important in that respect.

“We have a long road ahead but I see people pulling together in a great way and each councillor will work with residents, local organisations and community groups so they can access the support they need.”

If your community would benefit from your local Councillor’s support, please contact your Ward Councillor directly. The deadline for 2020-21 Locality Budget applications is 31 January 2021.
