Following a pre-let and completion of the building in February by Colchester Borough Council’s estates and commercial project management arm, Colchester Amphora Trading Ltd, the new tenants, industry-leading independent insurance brokers Aston Lark, have now completed their internal fitout work and moved into the second Amphora Place office located on Sheepen Road.

Aston Lark have relocated and upsized their Colchester operations to the high-quality new build office development. This follows the successful completion of the first Amphora office in 2017 and subsequent lease to Birkett Long. The construction of both buildings has been carried out by local firm Rose Builders.

This second phase of the new office development is a significant project for the council, as well as forming part of Colchester Amphora Trading’s strategic focus on generating income to support the delivery of frontline Council services, reducing the need for local cuts, and supporting the ongoing Better Colchester Campaign.

Councillor Theresa Higgins, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Commercial Services, said: “This is a fantastic project to create additional commercial space in our town. Delivered by the experienced project management team at Colchester Amphora Trading, these flagship new offices perfectly embody the Council’s objective of maximising our assets to bring in increased income, which will benefit Colchester taxpayers for years to come.”

Councillor Mark Cory, Leader of Colchester Borough Council. added: “I’m delighted that Amphora Place 2 is now complete and that Aston Lark has been able to fulfil its expansion plans, in addition to retaining jobs in the Borough. The new office is another regeneration project that underlines the Council's commitment to maintaining a vibrant and prosperous town centre, as part of the Better Colchester campaign.”

Peter Blanc, CEO at Aston Lark, tenant of Amphora 2, said: “When looking for a location to cater for our company’s continued expansion, Colchester was the obvious choice! We are delighted with the look of the new office which we hope will be a catalyst for further growth in the region.”

Steven Rose, MD of Rose Builders commented on the construction: “We are delighted to have completed the Amphora Place phase 2 office development for Colchester Amphora Trading on behalf of Colchester Borough Council. Redeveloping their car park into a Colchester landmark building in a wonderful location and providing 21st century office space such as this is vital to enable Colchester to attract high calibre employers as Aston Lark.”
