Enter the labyrinth – the Colchester Colourscape weekend returns to Castle Park

PUBLISHED: 14 June 2023

Colchester’s award-winning Castle Park will transform into a magical world of colour, music and dance, when Colourscape returns to the city on the weekend of 22 and 23 July 2023.

The unique outdoor experience, which was a sell-out success in 2022, invites audiences of all ages to explore a labyrinth of spectacular, sun-illuminated coloured chambers and make their way on ‘a journey of the senses’ towards the silver performance dome.

Along the way, and within the dome, audiences will be treated to live musical performances from musicians Sylvia Hallett & Mike Adock (Saturday) and Michael Ormiston & Domenic Deccico (Sunday), who will lead the public on a unique journey of the senses with unusual instruments including Tibetan Singing Bowls, amplified bicycle wheel and Native American flutes.

Cllr Michelle Burrows, Colchester City Council Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Heritage, said: “It’s great news that we are welcoming Colourscape back to Castle Park and I can’t wait to explore the labyrinth myself. This is yet another amazing event to add to our Year of Celebration which is already in full swing and attracting people from across the borough and the wider region to our vibrant city.”

The event, organised by Eye Music Trust, takes place in Castle Park, Colchester CO1 1TJ. Visitors can enter the labyrinth at 30-minute intervals throughout each afternoon, from 11am to 4pm.
