Colchester Museums Development Foundation joins #Giving Tuesday

PUBLISHED: 29 November 2022

Colchester Museums Development Foundation (CMDF) joins #GivingTuesday 2022, the Global Day of Generosity, on 29th November.

Coordinated by the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, there are numerous ways to get involved: donating to charity, volunteering or simply helping a friend, neighbour or family member.

CMDF supports Colchester Museums to inspire and enrich its local community, through the preservation, exploration, and sharing of the town’s heritage in its widest sense.

For Giving Tuesday in 2022 CMDF are encouraging adoptions of some of the most prized and unusual objects Colchester Museums' collections, including a mammoth’s tooth, a Viking sword, and a particularly well-endowed bronze statuette.

Colchester Museums curators have carefully chosen 21 objects designed to inspire and create the most unique and wonderful gift for the history enthusiast in your life, a loved one, or even yourself.

By supporting #GivingTuesday and adopting a museum object you will play a key part in preserving Colchester’s rich heritage for future generations. Your gift will increase our capacity to offer accessible events to the Colchester community, provide the team with new research opportunities to further our knowledge and learn more about our collections, and support our ongoing work to ensure our collections are as diverse and accessible as possible.

Councillor Pam Cox, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Heritage, said: “Giving Tuesday provides a fantastic opportunity for businesses, individuals, or any type of organization to celebrate generosity and encourage people to be involved in something charitable.

Becoming a CMDF adopter is easy, simply choose your object and recipient and check out online in one easy transaction. With the festive season right around the corner, why not treat your loved ones to an unusual but meaningful gift this year.”
