No changes to bin collections over Jubilee weekend

Colchester’s recycling will continue to be easy this Jubilee bank holiday weekend with no changes to collection days. All collections will take place as normal.

Here are our top three tips to an eco-friendlier Jubilee…

Decorations
Consider the environment and where possible save and re-use your bunting, banners, fancy dress, foil platters, picnic cutlery and crockery for another occasion!

Food waste
Please use up leftover food instead of throwing it away.  Share with neighbours and friends, freeze what you can, or donate to a local community fridge. Love Food Hate Waste has some great tips.

Remember that any food that needs to be chilled shouldn’t be left out of the fridge for more than four hours. Check out the Food Standards Agency’s tips and guidance on making sure food is safe to eat at your party.

Garden waste
If you are planning on enjoying some time in the garden over the long weekend, compost as much of it as you can at home or use your bin/sack to recycle your garden waste. Find out more about composting here.
