English Tourism Week takes place between 18-27 March

Spring is firmly on the horizon, and that can only mean the annual celebration of English tourism can begin.

his year, English Tourism Week takes place from the 18-27 March and Visit Colchester will be joining in with the national celebrations to recognise England’s diverse and vibrant tourism industry.

Last weekend (19 March), Visit Colchester headed to London to the Excursions travel show at Twickenham Stadium, to highlight Colchester as a great tourist destination for groups to visit.

At the show, the team promoted a new incentive package to make coming to Colchester more attractive to group travel organisers. With free reserved coach parking, discounts for attractions and tours for group visitors, and complimentary refreshment vouchers and entry to Colchester for drivers and guides on offer, the new scheme is already generating interest.

Back in Colchester, Visit Colchester is offering free Colchester goody bags to visitors. Packed with Colchester-themed gifts, including a stunning Beautiful Borough postcard to send to friends, the bags will highlight Britain’s First City. Goody bags can be collected from the Visitor Information Centre between the 18-27 March, whilst stocks last.

Councillor Darius Laws, Portfolio Holder for Economy, Business and Heritage, said: “Colchester is a great tourism destination. Visitors can find heritage, culture, a bustling, modern urban centre and find plenty to see and do on a day visit or an extended trip. Join us and help spread the word to friends and family about what a fantastic place Colchester is to visit this summer.”
