Hello Colchester!

PUBLISHED: 21 October 2021

As part of the council’s support for local businesses, an engaging initiative has been launched called ‘Hello Colchester!’

The innovative idea has been paid for using the ‘Welcome Back Fund’, which builds on the ‘Reopening High Streets Safely Fund’ announced by Government in May 2020.

The engagement tool by Hello Lamp Post will give residents an easy way to give their views by asking for ideas and feedback to help inform decision making by local businesses and the council in the future.
Signs will start appearing in and around the town centre in Culver Square and Lion Walk as part of the first phase. People will be able to scan the QR code on the sign to start a conversation with the street furniture.

Councillor Darius Laws, Portfolio Holder for Economy, Business and Heritage, said: “We want to have a conversation with residents and listen to their views. People can use Hello Colchester to talk to us and tell us their thoughts and ideas about the town centre and other areas and services in the borough. It’s also a great way for people to find out interesting facts about specific statues around the borough and the history of our town, as well as important updates, events and information that will be useful.”

Several local sites and objects in Colchester town centre have been chosen and will gradually start to be installed this autumn. Please see the map to find the sites and start your conversation!
