Colchester Museums to host free online Decolonisation + Democratisation seminars

PUBLISHED: 13 September 2021

This September, Colchester + Ipswich Museums would like to invite you to take part in the national debate surrounding museum collections by attending one, or all, of its free online seminars.

This year's programme will take place between the 23-29 September, and we are thrilled to be joined by award-winning speakers: British-Nigerian historian David Olusoga; Empireland author Sathnam Sanghera, and V&A Director Tristram Hunt.

Participants can choose to listen live and contribute to the debate or access the seminars for up to 30 days following the events. Please note, to watch the recordings back, you must still register for the events.

To find out more about the content of each of the seminars please visit Decolonisation + Democratisation where you can also sign up.

Councillor Darius Laws, Portfolio Holder for Economy, Business and Heritage for Colchester Borough Council said: “We’d like to invite you to join in this important conversation and register to attend if you can. You can also access last year’s seminars and resources by visiting the Colchester + Ipswich Museum website, where you can also sign up to attend this year’s events.”
