Park and Countryside summer events

PUBLISHED: 15 July 2021

High Woods Country Park has launched its exciting programme of summer activities for 2021.

The new programme, run by Colchester Borough Council, includes a series Ranger led tours that will give visitors a rare insight into the wildlife of High Woods Country Park, pond dipping, gold panning, fairy hunting, den building and much more.

Bat Walks are also taking place in High Woods Country Park, Colchester Cemetery and Wivenhoe Woods, where you will also have the chance to use bat detection equipment to help you listen to the sounds these animals make.

Cllr Beverley Oxford, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Communities, said: “I’m really pleased to be launching this summer activity programme for High Woods Country Park. It’s wonderful that we can now enjoy more activities as restrictions ease, and we are looking forward to a fun-filled summer of events in our parks and green spaces.”

The safety of visitors to the park is essential, so all activities will operate within Covid guidelines, ensuring they are safe and secure for all to enjoy.

You can also explore High Woods Country Park with the council’s free Nature Trail app (available on Google Play), download our map of the park, our Wildlife Map or join on of our free Wellness Walks.
