Those who have been enjoying BBC 2’s Winterwatch can now download Colchester’s own winter watch lists, as part of Colchester Borough Council’s Wild About Colchester activity packs.

Building on the popular Wild About Colchester activity sheets launched in July 2020, the council’s Countryside and Castle Park Ranger teams have put together some new ‘Big 5’ sheets showcasing Colchester’s seasonal highlights, to provide residents with some inspiration on their daily walk.

These four new FREE ‘Big 5’ winter watchlist activity packs (suitable for children and adults) encourage residents and visitors to explore Colchester’s great parks and green spaces, which are local to them. There is something for everyone, whether you are visiting a local park, open space or in a back garden or balcony.

Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Waste, Environment and Transportation, said: “Our Countryside teams are usually busy running family activities, but as that is not possible right now, they wanted to bring the great Colchester outdoors to you.

“These fantastic Big 5 winter watch lists showcase the best winter wildlife to spot in Colchester and can be done at home or at your nearest park or green outdoor space. Our Ranger teams would love to see your photos by sharing them with us on social media using #WildAboutColchester.”
