Strictly Champion siblings, Kevin and Joanne Clifton, will be fox-trotting their way to Charter Hall in Colchester, on 13 November, with an intimate show produced for a socially distanced audience: An Evening with Kevin And Joanne Clifton.

The much-loved dancing duo, who have both won the highly sought-after glitter ball trophy on the hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing (Kevin in 2018 with journalist Stacey Dooley; Joanne in 2016 with TV presenter Ore Oduba), will sing songs from their CD, share stories of their dancing lives and perform some favourite Ballroom and Latin dances with their professional partners.

Hosted by Colchester Events Company, part of Colchester Amphora Trading Ltd, the event will give audiences a glimpse into the Clifton’s dancing lives, from young children growing up in a dancing family, to the successful performers they are today.

Cllr Theresa Higgins, Colchester Council Portfolio Holder for Commercial Services, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Kevin And Joanne Clifton to Charter Hall. We can’t wait to open our doors to the many ‘Strictly’ fans of all ages who won’t want to miss this sparkling opportunity to see the dance floor brought to life by this super-talented couple.

“Securing this show is a great endorsement of Charter Hall and the procedures our events team has in place to ensure everyone can enjoy a safe and socially-distanced event. Once again, Colchester is cementing its reputation for attracting top performers and acts touring the UK.”

The production is suitable for a socially distanced audience and is being created and toured with the audience, theatre staff, cast and crew safety at the forefront.

Kevin said: “Although we all miss performing and producing live shows and it is great to be able to get back on stage, we know people’s health and safety is paramount. Myself, Joanne and our producers feel a responsibility to the theatre-industry to help rebuild audience confidence, so that one day theatres will be full again.”

The Colchester Events team has introduced a raft of measures to keep audiences safe whether attending events at Charter Hall, the Town Hall or Castle Park. All visitors are asked to follow safety guidelines which include social distancing, the wearing of face masks, following one-way systems, using sanitiser stations and contactless payments. Audiences are also being encouraged to sign up to the NHS Test and Trace app.
