Residents in Stanway are invited to see the exciting new design proposals for a new community facility located on Stanway’s Western Bypass.

Colchester Borough Council has funding to develop the site with Section 106 contributions from developers, as a result of large numbers of new homes being built in the area.

Local people are invited to view the new design proposals and meet architects Barefoot and Gilles and the Council’s Communities Team to discuss comments at one of two engagement events.

Cllr Mike Lilley, Colchester Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Communities, Wellbeing and Public Safety, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for this wonderful new community facility that will benefit the local community. I would urge all residents to go along to see the design proposals or to comment online.”

Architects Barefoot & Gilles, said: “We hope everyone will come along and view our design for the new building. We think it will make a big contribution to local community affairs and feedback from local residents at this early stage would be very helpful.”

The drop-in sessions will take place at Stanway Village Hall on the following dates:

  • Saturday 8 February – 1pm to 5pm
  • Wednesday 12 February – 1pm to 5pm

An online survey is also available for those who can’t attend the sessions. Residents can have their say at www.colchester.gov.uk/stanway between 31 January to 21 February.
