Mill Pond Car Park, Dedham – temporary changes

PUBLISHED: 29 January 2020

Date issued: 29 January 2020

Colchester Borough Council’s Mill Pond Car Park in Dedham will have fewer car parking spaces available from 3 - 7 February 2020 whilst it is used as a compound by Suffolk County Council for major bridge works.

This car park closure is to support Suffolk County Council’s essential major bridge maintenance on the nearby B1029 Dedham Road Bridge. Mill Pond Car Park will be used by the county council as a compound area, which is the most suitable location that has direct access to the bridge and watercourse.

Shoppers, visitors and workers in Dedham can take advantage of great value parking at the nearby Mill Lane Car Park in Dedham.

Cllr Mike Lilley, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Wellbeing and Public Safety, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the reduction in spaces. However, Suffolk County Council needs to complete these essential bridge works and using the car park as a compound is the best solution.

"The nearby, and much larger, Mill Lane Car Park will remain open throughout this period so visitors, shoppers, workers can continue to enjoy Dedham and all the wonderful walks, shops and places to eat.”
