PUBLISHED: 20 January 2020

Date issued: 20 January 2020

Every year in the UK, February is LGBT+ History Month. This national programme sees organisations countrywide showing their support for the LGBT+ community in a variety of different ways.

From school and university programmes and arts and cultural events there will be a diverse range of activities on offer this year by organisations all showing their support. All with the overall aim to promote equality and diversity.

To show our support Colchester Castle will be supporting LGBT+ History Month by running guided tours of the Castle that will uncover some of the hidden LGBT stories that are held in the museum collections. These tours will be held on Saturday 1 and 15 February at 11am and 2pm and will last approximately 45 mins – 1 hour long.

Booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment and can be booked by calling 01206 282 941. Each tour will cost £3.00 per person. For more information visit https://colchester.cimuseums.org.uk/events/

Councillor Julie Young, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Performance and Deputy Leader of the Council said: I’m thrilled that we working to support LGBT+ History Month at Colchester Castle.
