Public hearing sessions on plans for Garden Communities in North Essex

PUBLISHED: 13 January 2020

Date issued: 13 January 2020

The additional Local Plan hearing sessions into plans to create three Garden Communities in North Essex open tomorrow (Tuesday 14 January).

The hearings, being held at The JobServe Community Stadium, United Way, Colchester, have been set up to enable the independent Planning Inspector to publicly examine the additional evidence submitted by Braintree, Colchester and Tendring councils in support of their Local Plans – in response to questions raised by the Planning Inspector.

The Local Plans include Garden Communities, which are the long-term strategy of the three North Essex councils, in partnership with Essex County Council, to help meet the future growth of the area in a strategic way.

The sessions – covering issues such as housing need, transport and other infrastructure, and viability – will run until Thursday 30 January. A timetable for the sessions and the areas covered in each session can be found here: www.braintree.gov.uk/NEFurtherHearingsTimetable.

The audio of all the sessions will be broadcast live and people can listen in here https://www.braintree.gov.uk/LPS1PublicExamination

At the hearing, the Inspector will hear representations from the three councils and some of those who submitted comments through the public consultation carried out by the three North Essex councils on the additional evidence. He will then publish his findings in the weeks following the hearings.
