Colchester’s very own Natural History Museum has scooped a prestigious family attraction award. Day Out With The Kids has awarded the Natural History Museum ‘The Best FREE Family Day Out’ in the East of England.

The awards are voted for by real families and this year over 25,000 families took the time to cast their votes which saw the Natural History Museum crowned the winner.

Colchester’s Natural History Museum enables visitors to find out more about Colchester’s local wildlife habitats, biodiversity and climate change. It is a popular and loved family friendly museum in the heart of Colchester. With many interactive exhibits on offer and a range of events taking place throughout the year it’s a tremendous resource for families.

Councillor Julie Young, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Performance and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: This is a great accolade for Colchester Museums. The team work hard to provide families with a great experience and enable visitors to discover many unknown facts about Colchester. From our famous stag beetles to the secrets of the drowned world underneath the North Sea, the team’s efforts to make learning fun and engaging prove this award to be much deserved.”
