Leisure World Colchester has been celebrating the success of 67-year-old Lynn Williamson, who has won a prestigious Royal Life Saving Society award for her 30-years of service.
On Saturday 19 October, Lynn attended a ceremony at Worcester Cathedral to collect her award 2nd Bar to the Service Cross.
Lynn now teaches future lifeguards lifesaving skills, including First Aid, CPR and how to use an AED (defibrillator).
Lynn Williamson, Trainer Assessor, said: “Teaching people not only how to save lives in water, but also first aid and how to use an AED are essential in everyday life and real-life situations. It is so rewarding being able to teach people skills to save lives.
“I love my job; I love working with people and helping them to develop.”
Cllr Theresa Higgins, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Commercial Services, added: “I would like to congratulate Lynn on her award. Everyone should learn how to swim safely in water, and instructors like Lynn emphasize Leisure World’s commitment to take swimming seriously.
“I would encourage anyone interested in enrolling for swimming lessons or qualifications, whether for a child or adult, to speak with Leisure World’s friendly Welcome Zone team for more details.”
