Colchester Castle and Tiptree tearooms are teaming up to host a rather special evening of Georgian Gems and Gin. Taking place on the 16 November from 6.30-9pm, the evening ties into Colchester Castle’s resident exhibition, Adorn: Jewellery, The Human Story, which runs until 16 February 2020.
On the evening, renowned historical jewellery maker and expert Nicky Wade will be on hand to enlighten everyone about Georgian jewellery and the rise of ‘mother’s ruin’!
As we know, the Georgian period was a time of great change in Britain’s history and alongside our towns and cities expanding, the idea of consumerism and luxury within certain parts of society was flourishing. The Georgian era saw the most intricate and exquisite jewellery produced, often enhanced with precious gems.
Find out more about this time of great change and the impact it had on jewellery, during this remarkable evening. Learn more about the introduction of what we affectionately call ‘mother’s ruin’ and sample some of your own, courtesy of Tiptree tearooms (included in the admission cost of £20). Cocktails will also be on offer during the evening, so come along and join us for an evening of jewellery, gin and fun!

Immerse yourself in the Georgian era with some wonderful modern-day flavoured gins courtesy of our partners for the evening Tiptree Tearooms.”
