The finalists of this year’s Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation Awards have been announced and Colchester Borough Council has been shortlisted for two awards.

The council will now join three other local authorities as finalists in the ‘Benefits and Welfare Reform Team of the Year’ and ‘Most Improved Team of the Year’ – after impressing judges with the team’s high standards of service and strong focus on customer service.

Cllr David King, Portfolio Holder for Business and Resources, said: “I am so pleased that the council has been recognised for two prestigious national performance awards.

“Reaching the finals is a huge credit to our Benefits team. They are one of the very best in the country. I am proud of them, for their positive ‘can do’ approach and commitment to pleasing customers and the credit they bring to the council. They help thousands of the most vulnerable residents every year, across the borough. It is great they do that important job so very well.”

The awards will take place in Telford on Wednesday 9 October.
