An important milestone has been reached for Colchester Borough Council’s private housing development company, Colchester Amphora Homes Ltd, with a successful planning submission approved by the Planning Committee on 5 September 2019.

Key considerations for the new development on Creffield Road, Lexden, designed by Ipswich architects Barefoot & Gilles, will focus on the refurbishment of a locally listed Victorian building into apartments and the construction of two new town houses.

This will provide a high-quality mix of homes with a sustainable, environmentally-friendly design and specification for Colcestrians, in a highly desirable location close to the centre of town, giving excellent access to local amenities.

Cllr Theresa Higgins, Portfolio Holder for Commercial Services and Ward Councillor for New Town and Christ Church said: “These new developments will provide top-quality homes in our town, desirable places where people will enjoy living. High-quality building design is an intrinsic part of that, and I look forward to following the delivery of these properties for the people of Colchester in such an excellent location.”

The new homes will be launched for pre-sale within the next six months.
