Entry to St Mary’s Car Park unavailable during road closure

Access to St Mary’s Car Park in Colchester will be affected by the Balkerne Hill road closure which is scheduled to take place between 7pm and 5am on 12 and 13 September. During these times, there will be no vehicular access to the car park entrance, however the exit will remain open as usual.

During these times alternative parking is available at any of Colchester Borough Council’s other town centre car parks, which are all open 24 hours a day, except St John’s Car Park which is open 5am-10.30pm.

Councillor Mike Lilley, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Communities, Wellbeing and Public Safety, said: "We know that St Mary’s car park is popular for evening parking and are therefore keen to let motorists know that, the entrance will be unavailable from 7pm until 5am on 12 and 13 September, but the exit will remain open.

“We would therefore encourage motorists to either arrive at the car park before 7pm on those dates or use one of our other town centre car parks”.

The Balkerne Hill road closure is taking place to allow Essex County Council to upgrade the traffic signals and pedestrian crossing. For further information, visit roadworks.org
