Visit Colchester is excited to announce that it is teaming up with Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Romans this summer. The film, which is being shown at cinemas across the country, features Colchester’s very own formidable Queen Boudicca!

Boudicca is certainly one of the most famous names to be associated with Colchester, even if it is for bringing bloodshed and destruction to the town! We still love her though and today streets, schools, pubs and restaurants named after her commemorate the connection.

To celebrate the release of Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Romans, the team at Visit Colchester has lots of fun film merchandise to give away. Make sure you follow Visit Colchester on social media and are signed up to our newsletter, to be in with a chance of getting your hands on the goodies!!

If you are heading to see the film, look out for the Visit Colchester television advert which will be shown at cinemas across East Anglia and London before Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Romans starts.

Then start your own invasion with a visit to Colchester and discover the real-life horrible history behind Britain’s First City!

Councillor Julie Young, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Performance and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “I am delighted that a part of Colchester’s story is appearing on the big screen – even if it might differ slightly from the official history! We invite everyone to come to Colchester this summer and discover Britain’s First City and our remarkable heritage.”
