New Stanway community facility consultation begins in July

PUBLISHED: 28 June 2019

Date issued: 28 June 2019

Residents in Stanway are being invited to have their say on a new community facility located on Stanway’s Western Bypass.

Colchester Borough Council has funding to develop the site in the future with Section 106 contributions from developers, as a result of large numbers of new homes being built in the area.

Local people are invited to comment on the future for the site – whether they feel the area needs another community facility, sports provision or health and wellbeing hub.

This input is vital to help inform and develop the project team’s ongoing work on the design of the building, so that the resulting facility is something that residents can benefit from and enjoy.

Mike Lilley, Colchester Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Communities, Wellbeing and Public Safety, said: “This development has been in the pipeline for quite some time now, and it is exciting to see an opportunity for a new community facility be realised in this rapidly-developing area of Colchester. I would urge all residents to go along and have their say or to comment online.”

The consultation drop-ins will take place at Stanway Village Hall on the following dates:

  • Saturday 6 July from 9.30am - 12.30pm
  • Thursday 11 July from 1.30pm - 5.00pm

An online survey is also available for those who can’t attend the sessions.
