Colchester Borough Council announces new cleaning contract

Date issued: 2 May 2019

Cleaning firm Kingdom Group Services is set to continue its successful partnership with Colchester Borough Council, following a competitive tendering process.

The decision to award the four-year contract to the company means it will continue to provide cleaning services in all the council’s offices, sheltered housing schemes and corporate buildings, including the Town Hall and Colchester Castle.

The agreement, which will safeguard 15 jobs, will also see Kingdom Group Services meet the council’s commitment to pay the Living Wage to help tackle income inequality and support those struggling on low pay.

Adrian Pritchard, Chief Executive of Colchester Borough Council, said: “I am pleased our association with Kingdom Group Services is set to continue.

“I’m certain the strong and established relationship we have with them will help maintain the high quality of service our tenants and staff have come to expect in the past, and that we will continue to build on these standards and achievements in the coming years.”

Mark Wallace, Kingdom’s chief operating officer, added: “We are really pleased to be continuing our successful relationship with Colchester Borough Council.

“This is a real vote of confidence in our track record and ability to consistently deliver to a high standard.”

The contract, which began on 1 May 2019, includes an option to extend the arrangement a further two years by agreement.
