Recycling will continue to be easy this Easter with no changes to collection days over the holiday period, including Good Friday.
Residents receiving Easter eggs can recycle firm plastic Easter egg packaging, as well as plastic containers, bottles, tubs, pots, trays, lids and cardboard packaging, on their normal Green Week collection, alongside garden waste. Tin foil Easter egg wrappings should be recycled with other tin, can and glass items, which go out on a Blue Week with black bin/bag non-recyclable rubbish.
All cooked and uncooked food waste can be included in households’ weekly food waste collection.
Residents are also being asked to be mindful of the single-use plastics that they purchase and use over the Easter period, particularly plastic wrapping, film and bags which can no longer be recycled through kerbside collections.

Councillor Martin Goss, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Waste, Environment and Transportation, said: "We know that Easter can be a busy time for many residents, so we’re making it as easy as possible for residents to know when their collections are, by keeping the collection days the same for all households.
“Easter celebrations and activities can result in a lot of waste and I would encourage residents to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible to minimise the environmental impact.”
