Christmas is coming to Colchester – the town lights are on, beautifully decorated trees are on display, and Colchester Castle will be welcoming visitors to their special free annual Christmas Open Evening next week.

The annual Colchester Castle Christmas Open Evening will take place on Wednesday 12 December from 3pm – 8.30pm.

You are cordially invited to come along, soak up the Christmas atmosphere with Christmas carols, mince pies, entertainment and not forgetting a special opportunity to meet Santa.

Entry to the Castle is free and children will be able to see Santa and receive a gift for a small £5 charge.

Cllr Tim Young, Portfolio Holder for Business and Culture and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “Visiting the Castle at Christmas is rather magical, the whole building takes on a really charming, festive atmosphere and is a brilliant place to take the family over the holidays. The Open Evening is a very exciting event for the Castle and will be buzzing with a great yuletide spirit!

“If you can’t make the open evening and want to see Santa don’t despair, he will be available on selected dates until 23 December, so make sure you call 01206 282939 to book your special visit in with his elves!”
