Key voluntary and community groups that provide valuable services to the borough are invited to apply for a share of the £190,000 Voluntary Welfare Grant funding scheme for 2019/20, when it opens for applications on 19 October 2018.

This funding opportunity aims to support services that help to address and complement Colchester Borough Council's own strategic aims and is offered to local organisations annually. The Voluntary Welfare Grant supports the Council’s Better Colchester campaign, which aims to make Colchester a better place to live in, work in and visit.

Organisations can apply for a one-off grant from a minimum of £5,000 up to a maximum of £50,000. Funding is available to registered charities, constituted voluntary and community organisations, and not-for-profit organisations.

Councillor Tina Bourne, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Communities, said: “The Voluntary Welfare Grant is a fantastic way for local groups and charities to obtain additional funding for worthwhile projects and good causes that can help build strong local communities across the borough. I would therefore urge any interested organisations to apply online by the November closing date.”

The application form and further information about the Voluntary Welfare Grant Fund can be found online at www.colchester.gov.uk/voluntarywelfaregrant

The funding will be confirmed to the successful organisations by early 2019 and allocated in April 2019. The closing date for applications is 5pm on the 21 November 2018. Late applications will not be accepted.
