A normal waste and recycling service has resumed today, after the council suspended collections early on Friday (27 July) due to severe high temperatures and concerns for the safety of its collections crews.
In addition to undertaking their normal duties this week, waste crews will also endeavour over the coming days to collect as much recycling as possible in those areas missed last week. All the outstanding black bags and food waste in areas missed last week has already been collected.
Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Waste, Environment and Transportation, said: “On behalf of the council, I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to residents whose waste was missed when we took the decision last Friday to suspend collections.
“I would also like to reassure everyone affected that our crews will be working extra hard in the coming days to provide a full and normal service and to collect all the outstanding waste as soon as possible.”
