Health and Safety Appeals

Advice on what to do if you're considering appealing against a health and safety enforcement notice.

  • How to appeal a health and safety enforcement notice

If you are considering appealing against a health and safety enforcement notice we recommend that you first contact the Inspector who issued the notice to see if the matter can be resolved without the need to appeal to an Employment Tribunal.

The notes on the back of the enforcement notice tell you how to appeal against the notice, and appeals must be made within 21 days from the date of its service. There is a fee for using this service, and further information is available from the Employment Tribunal Service online or via their enquiry line 0845 7959775.

Opening Hours Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm (excluding public holidays). Please Note: Colchester Borough Council is committed to Customer Excellence and may record your call.
