Stanway Community Facility progresses following successful community consultation by CBC
A large amount of useful and valuable feedback has been received following a successful and well-attended public consultation by Colchester Borough Council (CBC). Stanway residents were able to have their say on the forthcoming community facility which will be built at the Western Bypass.
Colchester Borough Council has funding to develop a site for community use as a result of Section 106 contributions from housing developers due to the large numbers of new homes being built in the area. The project is being managed by Colchester Amphora Trading on behalf of CBC.
114 people from Stanway and the surrounding areas completed the online survey and around 60 people attended the events at Stanway Village Hall. Feedback from the consultation was plentiful and very positive, with the main areas of need for the area identified as: more sport and leisure opportunities; spaces for groups and clubs to hire and Early Years provision.
Following the consultation, CBC will now be seeking to appoint an architect to progress the project taking into consideration the feedback from those who attended the consultation events and completed online forms.
The initial designs are expected later in 2019 in readiness for planning submission.
