Learning and Development

We are committed to providing learning and development opportunities for our employees.

  • Types of learning and development opportunities we offer

Colchester Borough Council is strongly committed to learning and development and employees can expect a blended approach to learning.

What this means is that we encourage more than one method of training for individuals both in terms of their professional development and personal growth.

The Council is proud to have both the Investors In People (IIP) status as well as having won a Colchester District Business Awards for staff training and development.

We offer a number of options for learning and development, including:

  • e-Learning - an online tool to assist your learning in a practical way
  • Colchester Learning Managers - which offers managers an opportunity to complete a modular management course, using a 50/50 split between online learning and practical experience in the workplace - accredited to the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)
  • Coaching and Mentoring
  • Traditional courses, seminars and conferences
  • Assistance with professional qualification courses and membership - if being a formal member of a professional body is an integral part of your role with the Council, then we want to recognise this commitment to your career development by making a 50% contribution towards your professional subscription, usually on an annual basis.
