An Election is to be held for a Member of Parliament to serve the Colchester constituency and the Harwich and North Essex constituency.

Notice of Election published 4:00 pm Monday 11 November
Notice of Poll published 4:00 pm Thursday 14 November
Deadline for candidate nominations 4:00 pm Thursday 14 November
Postal vote application deadline 5:00 pm Tuesday 26 November
Registration to vote deadline Midnight Tuesday 26 November
Proxy vote application deadline 5:00 pm Wednesday 4 December
Election Day 7:00 am to 10:00 pm Thursday 12 December

It is our intention to dispatch postal votes for existing postal voters on Friday 22 November. There will be a subsequent dispatch of postal votes on Friday 29 November.

Emergency proxy

Applications to vote by emergency proxy may be made if after 5pm on Wednesday 4 December you learned that you are unable to attend your polling station because of either your occupation or a medical condition. The application must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Thursday 12 December.

Submitting your application form

Once completed any application forms need to be submitted to the Electoral Registration Officer for your area. A scanned copy can be sent to the relevant email address. Any application will need to be received by the relevant deadline.
