This consultation seeks your views on proposals to make cat microchipping a compulsory requirement of cat ownership in England and how you think this should be implemented.

They also want to know whether you think vets and other bodies should be required to scan cats and dogs for microchips in certain situations. For example, prior to euthanasia.

This consultation by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs runs from 23 December 2020 until 16 February 2021.
